Dr. Dan Maurer

Dr. Dan Maurer is proud to work every day at Longmont Complete Dentistry with his father and inspiration, Dr. James Maurer. Growing up, he watched his dad interact with patients and do fascinating lab work that made him want to be a dentist too!

Dr. Dan earned his doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, before interning at several clinics around Colorado, including the Salud Health Clinics in Commerce City and right here in his hometown of Longmont. He has also taken courses from the Engel Institute and the Dental Practice Masters Online School.

Dr. Dan has been married to his best friend, Tanna since 2018, and has been a proud dad to their daughter Tinley Jo since 2020.  A dog lover, his family also includes a boxer named Kona and a French bulldog named Lilo.

As a Colorado native, naturally Dr. Dan loves being outdoors. His activities of choice include golf, snowboarding, fly fishing, hiking, and basketball. He even plays in both a cornhole and a Skee ball league!

Dr. James Maurer

In addition to be the proud father of Dr. Dan and his daughter, Lisa, Dr. James Maurer is honored to have been helping Longmont families smile for several decades. He enjoys getting to know his patients and neighbors and treats everyone who walks into his office like he would his own family.

A Wisconsin native, Dr. Maurer became captivated by Colorado when he visited the state to ski while on the University of Wisconsin ski team. He knew then he’d love to live here, and after earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota, he packed his bags for Longmont, where he’s been ever since.

Outside of the office, Dr. Maurer enjoys spending time with his wife Katie, his children, and traveling and playing golf. He even coached youth soccer. He also enjoys giving back to the community by providing dental care to underserved members of the area through the Longmont Sunshine Club and Colorado’s Donated Dental Services.

Dr. Brandt Bergman

An Iowa native, Dr. Bergman has been practicing here at Longmont Complete Dentistry since 2023. Though he knew since high school biology class that he wanted to be in the medical field, he found his specific passion for dentistry after shadowing his best friend’s father in his own dental clinic.

After completing his dental education at The University of Iowa, Dr. Bergman practiced for six years in Madison, WI, and worked on honing his dental skills by taking countless hours of continuing education through SPEAR Education, and the AAID Maxicourse for Implant Dentistry.

He is a current member of numerous prestigious dental organizations, such as the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Outside of practicing dentistry, Dr. Bergman enjoys spending time with his wife Michelle and their three dogs, biking, and exploring all the natural wonders of Colorado!

It was also a pain-free visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to find a dentist who does dental implants?

It is smart to do your research before choosing a dentist for dental implant placement. You’ll often find those who can complete the entire process in-house or those who only restore implants. You have to decide how you want to pursue treatment – all under one roof or with a referral. Generally, three types of dentists specialize in dental implants near Niwot: periodontists, prosthodontists, and oral surgeons.

However, many dentists can also provide dental implant placement and restoration with advanced training and experience. Various organizations offer this level of education and hands-on training, including the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI) and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID).

Longmont Complete Dentistry is pleased to have Dr. Bergman, who is a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and has pursued countless hours of continuing education with the AAID Maxicourse for Implant Dentistry.

What do you do if you can’t afford a dentist?

The most important thing to remember is that dentistry is all about prevention, so if you prioritize your oral health and see your dentist regularly, you can prevent serious issues and avoid the high price of restorative and complex oral healthcare.

If you have dental insurance, make sure to use it so that you maximize your available benefits and pay less out of pocket. If you do not, ask your dentist near Niwot about available payment options. At Longmont Complete Dentistry, we offer CareCredit and Cherry dental financing. With affordable, low and no-interest plans available, you can break up the cost of care into manageable payments.

How can I make a same-day appointment with a dentist?

You are always more likely to receive a faster response when you call to speak to a member of the dental staff. Sending an email will not get you the answers you need as quickly.

In most cases, same-day appointments tend to be dental emergencies, so being able to speak to someone about your injury can help expedite the process. A team member can evaluate how soon you need to be seen by a dentist. After all, these visits are designed to help you out of pain and to create a treatment plan that addresses the underlying issue.

What level of education is required to be a dentist?

In the United States, all dentists must have either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from one of the 67 accredited dental schools. However, before being accepted into a three-year dental program, a person must graduate with a bachelor’s degree and obtain high grades in a major that is heavy in science and math.

Dental school is a combination of hands-on learning and classroom instruction. When finished, a person can choose to pursue general dentistry or seek additional training and education by specializing in 1 of 12 fields recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). This decision often requires three more years of study.

To maintain one’s license, it is necessary for all dentists to complete a designated number of continuing education hours each year.
